MGSC Baseball Coach Steps Down

mgsclogoCOCHRAN, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The head coach of the Middle Georgia State College baseball team has stepped down but will remain on staff as a faculty member.

In a release from the school, athletic director Charles Mullis issued a statement on Craig Young’s resignation:

“We are very grateful for the many years of dedicated service and the success Coach Young brought to Middle Georgia College. His enthusiasm for the game of baseball and his players was always evident and will be greatly missed.  He’s been a great coach and we’re pleased he’s going to remain with the college continuing to help shape the future of our students.”

Young took over as head coach of Middle Georgia College in 1997.  His 2001, 2002, 2004 and 2009 teams all made it to the Junior College World Series.

The school merged with Macon State College earlier this year.

Assistant coach Chris Howell will serve as interim coach as the college begins a nationwide search for a new head coach.
