Mercer’s Mohanty Brothers Advance to SIC Semis

ATHENS, Ga. (MERCER RELEASE) – Sophomore brothers Arsav and Arnav Mohanty advanced to the semifinals of the Southern Intercollegiate Championships No. 2 Flight doubles bracket to highlight the Mercer men’s tennis team’s action on Sunday in Athens.

The Mohanty brothers were 8-4 winners over Chris Barrus and Reece Acree of Central Florida, solidifying their spot in Monday’s semifinals against Winthrop’s Juan Pablo Boada and Yuta Hirokawa. The Sarasota, Fla. natives are now one of just four doubles team remaining out of the 64 pairings that started in the flight.

The brothers are now 3-0 at the event with wins over Barry’s Eduardo Alfonzo and Franco Echenique on Friday and Vanderbilt’s Pen Binet and Suresh Eswaran on Saturday.

Mercer’s Oliver Snaider was also a winner on Sunday, topping Charlotte’s Jack Williams 6-3, 6-3 in the consolation bracket of the No. 2 singles flight. His play at the Southern Intercollegiate has now concluded, while the Mohanty team resumes action at 8 a.m. on Monday.
