Mercer’s Henry Voted A-Sun Conference Player of the Week

MACON, Ga. (MERCER RELEASE) – After scoring a pair of goals and helping lead the Mercer men’s soccer team to a win over an in-state rival, senior forward Ehjayson Henry was named the Atlantic Sun Conference Player of the Week on Monday afternoon.

The A-Sun Player of the Week honor is the third of Henry’s career and is well deserved as the forward’s four goals thus far in 2013 is currently tied for the most in the conference.

Henry scored both of Mercer’s goals on the weekend to help the Bears go 1-1 and earn a second-place finish in its Mercer Tournament hosted at Bear Field this past weekend.

After scoring Mercer’s lone goal in its 2-1 loss to Winthrop on Sept. 13, Henry came through in the clutch in the Bears contest against Georgia Southern on Sept. 15. The Harris Village, Saint Kitts native scored the game-winning goal in the 87th minute to lift Mercer to a 1-0 win over the Eagles.

Following his two goals this weekend, Henry now has 14 points and 33 points during his three-year career with the Bears, both of which are tied for the second-most amongst all active players in the A-Sun Conference.

Mercer returns to action on September 18 when it hosts Gardner Webb. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Bear Field.
