Last Time Out
MACON, Ga. (MERCER RELEASE) – The Mercer women’s basketball team’s late rally wasn’t quite enough in a 72-64 loss to Northern Kentucky on Thursday evening at Hawkins Arena.
Mercer was led by junior Briana Williams who posted a team-high 17 points on 8-of-16 shooting from the field to go along with a career-high six assists.
Scouting the Opposition
Lipscomb enters play on Saturday afternoon in the midst of an 11-game losing streak after most recently dropping an 88-79 decision to Kennesaw State on Feb. 6.
The Bisons are an interesting team in that they rank second in the A-Sun Conference averaging 67.6 points per game and 6.7 made three-pointers per contest, but are dead last in the league allowing 83.0 points per game.
Sophomore Danay Fothergill has been pacing the Bisons during A-Sun play as she leads the league averaging 21.7 points per game. Classmate Ashley Southern has been on a roll of late as well after collecting her eighth-straight double-double, with 13 points and 10 rebounds, last time out against Kennesaw State.
Story Lines
– The all-time series is currently tied between Mercer and Lipscomb at 11-11. The Bears have won four-straight contests in the series, however, including a 79-72 triumph earlier this season in Nashville on Jan. 11.
– Junior Precious Bridges made her return to the hardwood last time out against Northern Kentucky after missing the previous five games due to illness. Mercer was 2-3 overall without Bridges, who still leads the team and ranks second in the A-Sun Conference averaging 16.2 points per game.
