UPDATE: Shelter in place order at Mercer University lifted
A shelter in place order was issued Wednesday afternoon at Mercer University after a threat was called in to the school, according to Director of Media Relations, Jennifer Fairfield-Williams.

UPDATE: A shelter in place order at Mercer University is now lifted, according to Bibb County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Capt. Linda Howard.
Mercer Director of Media Relations Jennifer Fairfield-Williams confirmed the lifted order.
”There is no active threat on the Macon campus,” she said. “Police are continuing to monitor the situation.”
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A shelter in place order was issued Wednesday afternoon at Mercer University after a threat was called in to the school, according to Director of Media Relations, Jennifer Fairfield-Williams.
Fairfield tells 41NBC that law enforcement is sweeping the campus to check for active threats.
This lockdown comes just one day after Central Georgia Technical College’s Macon campus and Rutland Highschool were put under lockdown for threats that turned out to be a hoax.
