Mercer University Student Robbed at Gunpoint, Explains Experience

The armed robberies from Saturday night hit too close to home for Kacie Niemann. She was unfortunate enough to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Niemann was at the Carriage Hills Apartment Complex to visit with friends, when two men jumped out of their car and took her money at gunpoint.

Niemann explains she saw the men sitting in their car with bandannas covering their faces, and knew what they were up to.

“I was like, ‘Oh gosh why else would anyone have their faces covered like that?’ So I tried to hurry but they came out with guns and got a hold of me before I could get to the apartment.”

Niemann says she did what she was told, and did not try to fight back for fear that they would actually use the gun.

The two men took her keys, cash, and purse and fled the scene.

Early Tuesday morning police found all of Niemann’s items in another apartment complex not too far from the Carriage Hills Apartments.

Niemann says she thinks the men who robbed her were doing it as a gang initiation, and that is why they did not hurt her.
