Mercer students host law enforcement forum
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Mercer University students want to keep the lines of communication between their community, law enforcement, and city officials open.
A panel of city leaders addressed the group to discuss various law enforcement situations and how they should respond if it escalates.
A few commissioners, Sheriff David Davis, and former Mayor C. Jack Ellis also gave their opinions on the officer involved incidents in New York City and Ferguson, Missouri.
“A lot of students are from different parts of the state, different parts of the nation, to sort of know the basic premises of law enforcement. All law enforcement agencies are different and just to kind of know how we do things here,” explained Sheriff David Davis.
Event organizers plan to host similar events in the future.
