Mercer Students Face Felonies After Destroying Bear Statue

Two Mercer students are facing felony charges after they were seen kicking a bear statue down College Street early Saturday morning.

22 year old Jordan McMahan and 21 year-old Chris Santiago were apparently drunk when a Mercer Police Officer saw them destroying the fiberglass statue. Each faces 1 count of Theft by Taking and Criminal Damage to Property.

According to the Macon Arts Alliance, replacing the statue will cost around $4,000.
