Mercer student dies after collapsing during intramural soccer game

Mason Sells was an accounting major and member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A Mercer student has died after collapsing during an intramural soccer game Monday night, according to a statement from Mercer University.

Mason Sells, a junior from Peachtree City, was transported to Atrium Navicent Health and pronounced dead on September 23.

Sells was an accounting major and member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity.

The cause of death has not been determined.

Mercer University issued the following statement:

“Our hearts go out to the Sells family on their tragic loss, and I ask the Mercer community to keep them in their thoughts and prayers. Mason was an outstanding student and a highly involved Mercerian. Words cannot convey the extent of our sadness over his passing.”
