Mercer Names Kyle Hannan New Men’s Lacrosse Head Coach
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Kyle Hannan has been named the next Mercer men’s lacrosse head coach.
According to a release from the university, the announcement was made by Director of Athletics Jim Cole on Monday.
“I am extremely excited and proud to announce the hiring of Kyle Hannan to lead our men’s lacrosse program,” says Cole. “Kyle quickly rose to the top of our search list because of his reputation in the lacrosse world, not only as a coach but more importantly as a person of high character. Kyle, his wife Angie, and their two children are a welcome addition to the Mercer family and the middle Georgia area.”
Hannan will lead the team into its first year in the Tony and Nancy Moye Family Football and Lacrosse Complex, which will open in September.
“I was very impressed by the new facility,” Hannan said. “To be honest, it caught my attention by word-of-mouth and looking online. Once I got on campus and got the real feel, it was eye-opening. My time in Macon and on campus during the process really solidified my desire to be the next Mercer head coach.”
Hannan is 179-122 in his 19 years as head coach, including a 129-71 mark at his most recent stop at Goucher College in Townsend, Maryland. At Goucher, he ended his 12-year career with the school’s first NCAA Division III Tournament win in program history.
