Meeting Adjourned for Former Director of Public Works’ Appeal
After being terminated in February, Macon’s former Director of Public Works Richard Powell appealed Mayor Robert Reichert’s decision.
A special meeting was held Tuesday afternoon to discuss the appeal, but that meeting was adjourned with no decision made.
Controversy developed on how to move forward with the hearing because of a debate over whether to vote after Tuesday’s hearing, deliberate, and vote again; or, have one final vote.
Macon City Council hired Judge Brian Tiller to act as a mediator during the hearing, while both council and administration had the opportunity to present their sides.
Before any statements regarding Powell’s appeal could be heard,
the judge called the meeting to a recess.
Tuesday’s meeting was adjourned without hearing any evidence. Administration did not address any procedures moving forward.
41 NBC tried to talk with Richard Powell and his attorney, neither of them had any comments.
