Medical Center, Navicent Health receives stroke award

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – For five years in a row, Medical Center, Navicent Health has received the “Get With the Guidelines – Stroke Gold Plus Quality” achievement award.

This annual award recognizes employees for providing quality care for stroke patients.

Last year, Navicent Health was on the Target Stroke Honor Roll, but this year they were bumped up to Target Stroke Honor Roll Elite; which measures the time between a patient’s arrival at the hospital and treatment.

“Patients are getting to the hospital quicker, they’re listening to the public service announcements, they’re listening to the education that we are putting out on stroke signs and symptoms; on how to recognize those stroke signs and symptoms and getting to the ER quickly,” says Stroke Program Coordinator, Denise Goings.

The awards were presented by the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association.

Health professionals say they will continue to focus on improving the quality of stroke care by implementing evidence-based guidelines.
