MDA Lock Up Puts Community Members “Behind Bars”

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Community members and leaders from around middle Georgia went to jail Thursday.

The Muscular Dystrophy Association Lock Up is an annual fundraiser that puts participants ‘behind bars’ to raise money for 43 different neuromuscular diseases. The participants are essentially ‘locked’ inside
a room while they network and call friends, asking for donations to support the cause and bail them out. The only rule, is to raise all the money you can.

“It’s to help the kids, and not only the kids it goes to research to help adults as well. Research is a big thing, the kids need to go to camp and that’s basically what they’re trying to do,” said MDA Lock Up participant Ronald Clark.

The money raised helps send local kids to MDA summer camp. MDA anticipates 120 kids at camp this July.
