McDaniel Trial Postponed Until January

MACON, Georgia (41nbc/wmgt) – The trial for accused killer Stephen McDaniel has been postponed until January.

That’s according to Macon district attorney David Cooke. McDaniel is charged with killing and dismembering mercer law graduate Lauren Giddings two years ago. Cooke says the trial was postponed because there were too many motions to get through before the september trial date.

Now, motion hearings will begin on September 16th, and are expected to last a week. The jury trial will begin on January 6th.

This has been a long road for the Giddings family. “We’re working hard to get justice for lauren and her family, and the community. And we look forward to the day that we can bring this case to trial,” Cooke said Tuesday afternoon.
