MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT)- The Macon-Bibb County Transit Authority will expand its on-demand Rapid Transit service into sub-south Bibb County starting March 2, according to a news release.
The new Rapid Transit Pilot Zone II will extend flexible, app-based transit beyond the current service area to major employers, neighborhoods and the Middle Georgia Regional Airport, according to the Macon Transit Authority.
Zone II will serve four main corridors: Frank Amerson Parkway, Hartley Bridge Road and Houston Road, U.S. Highway 41 and Highway 247. Employers and facilities in the zone include the FedEx Ship Center, Amazon SAV3 Distribution Center, Tyson Foods, Kumho Tire, Irving Tissue and Central Georgia Technical College’s airport campus.
Riders can book trips through the Rides on Demand app or by calling 478-803-2500, option 1. The service lets passengers request rides within the zone without fixed bus stops, with standard transit fares applying.
