Mayoral Candidates in Warner Robins Aim to Reach More Residents; Lee Calling For Recount

WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Two political newcomers are meeting in a runoff in the mayoral race in Warner Robins.

Mayoral candidate Randy Toms is already hitting the phones pushing for more support.

He finished first in Tuesday night’s race and is heading into a runoff

“The plan is to try to get as many people back on the team as we can get,” Toms said.

Mayoral candidate, and former Public Works Director, Joe Musselwhite, is happy to be back on the ballot.

When there were six candidates, he worried about his message being lost with everyone else’s.

Now he says he can share it with the community.

“I’ve got a lot of experience that the other candidates didn’t have as far as city management is concerned,” Musselwhite said. “I would really want people to understand that as the Public Works Director I’ve overseen 8, 8.5 million dollar contracts all the way down to approving a bill for payment.”

Former Mayoral candidates Chuck Chalk and Mike Brashear are backing Toms.

“I appreciate their endorsement. I appreciate their belief in me in knowing that I will do what’s best for the city of Warner Robins,” Toms said.

If he’s elected, Toms wants to reach out to all of the winning candidates in Warner Robins and work together to make sure there is a level playing field in the council chamber.

“We have the greatest people in the world right here in Warner Robins and in the middle Georgia area and we’ve got to start working together and make things work,” Toms said.

If Musselwhite takes the seat, his goal is to focus on the community and not the back and forth in politics.

“Keep it away from being about you and make it about the people of our city. People won’t have a problem with it,” Musselwhite said.

Former Mayoral Candidate, and city councilman, Daron Lee says he and his team, looked over the election results and are seeking legal advice about calling for a recount.
