Mayor of Roberta center of GBI investigation
ROBERTA, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – GBI agents are investigating Mayor Becky Smith of Roberta after an incident in October.
Special Agent J.T. Ricketson tells 41NBC, District Attorney David Cooke reached out to them on Friday asking for assistance in the investigation.
Ricketson says Smith and her husband may have been involved in interrupting a traffic stop involving a Crawford County deputy and a Roberta police officer.
Agents are reviewing the case. As of this time, Smith isn’t charged with anything.
Mayor Smith tells 41NBC she isn’t commenting and is looking to call a meeting with council about the investigation.
