Mayor Candidate Announces Plans For A New Macon
C. Jack Ellis officially announced his plan to run for mayor of Macon in the 2011 election. Today he talked about the changes he’s ready to put in place to recreate the city of Macon through community gardens.
“If we’re going to be a smaller city, and we will then there are some parts of the city that we don’t need anymore that we can shut down, that we can turn into green space, into community gardens.”
This announcement kicked off his campaign trail through the streets of Macon. Ellis drove through areas where supporters were waiting to cheer him on.
“When he was mayor the first time, in my opinion, he did more for Macon than any other mayor we had,” says Geraldine Olowu.
“I really think he’s the one for us, he’s the one for Macon,” says Addie Edwards.
Ellis says that there are a lot of areas in Macon that need to be addressed. Instead of rebuilding, he intends to give residentsplaces where they can go and appreciate nature.
When asked about what else he has backing his campaign, Ellis responded with a list of accomplishments.
“I will put my record up against anyone that will be in the race… And realizing that elections are about the future but if you want to make it a referendum on whose done what then I say bring it on.”
