Marine Bikes Across the Country for Fallen Soldiers

An Arizona man is making it his mission to cross the country in honor of our fallen soldiers.

23-year-old Levi Aho got on his bicycle and left Oceanside, California on March 14th with just one goal, to remember those who gave everything they had.

“I just dropped my rear tire in the Pacific and took off…”

Six and a half weeks later, Levi is in Warner Robins carrying the same flag he had during his deployment to Iraq. He says it’s his good luck charm.

“One day I forgot it in the tent and my truck ran over an IED that morning about 11:30 that disabled the vehicle so we got put in a second vehicle and we ended up getting blown up again that afternoon so two hits in one day was enough, I never left the flag in the tent again.”

From California to Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Louisiana, then Mississippi to Alabama and now in Georgia, his bicycle holds the bare essentials.

“I’ll either camp out, any random place I can find, showers I’ll take them when I can get them.”

With no support vehicles, it’s just Levi and his bike, and he seems to enjoy it. He’s not sure when his trek will end, but he doesn’t seem to care.

“As long as I have that flag, I’m not worried about anything.”

Levi will head to South Carolina from Georgia, and then over to North Carolina. He had some money saved up, but says he’s running off of donations now.
