Man, would-be robbers exchange gunfire in store parking lot

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Masked men attempted to rob a couple in a store parking lot but were left empty handed.

According to a Bibb County Sheriff’s Office news release, the incident happened Friday around 7:30 p.m. at Shoe Show on Pio Nono Ave.

Two suspects, wearing masks, approached a 42-year-old man and demanded money. One of the masked men pulled a gun out and pointed it at the victim.

“The suspects followed the victim and confronted his wife as she was exiting the store and took her purse,” continued the release. “The suspect with the handgun was pointing it at the male victim and fired a shot at him.”

The man was able to get his pistol from his car and fired shots back at the suspects.

“The suspects dropped the purse and ran into the wood line near the old Wal-Mart store,” added the release.

The victims were not injured.

Deputies searched the area but did not locate either of the suspects.

They’re described as being around 5 foot 10 inches tall and slender in build. They were wearing gloves and jump suits.
