Man wanted in Florida homicide investigation arrested in Monroe County

According to the sheriff’s office, the Marion County, Florida, Sheriff’s Office notified the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office on March 11, 2026, at approximately 2:58 a.m., of a BOLO (Be On the Lookout) for Roemal Lamar Charles.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A man who was wanted out of Florida for an active homicide investigation was arrested in Monroe County, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the sheriff’s office, the Marion County, Florida, Sheriff’s Office notified the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office on March 11, 2026, at approximately 2:58 a.m., of a BOLO (Be On the Lookout) for Roemal Lamar Charles.

The Marion County, Florida, Sheriff’s Office authorities told Monroe deputies that Charles was traveling northbound on Interstate 75 and would likely be passing through Monroe County.

Charles was being tracked through a rental vehicle he was driving. Monroe County deputies located the vehicle on I-75 North, conducted a traffic stop and took Charles into custody without incident.

Charles is currently being held at the Monroe County Jail and awaiting extradition back to Florida.
