Man Wanted in Attempted Robbery of Macon Hotel

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Macon Police are searching for a suspect in the attempted robbery of the Palm Tree Extended Stay Hotel located on Riverside Drive.

At approximately 9:20 Monday night, a man walked into the lobby and acted as if he was renting a room. When he was prompted to display some identification, the man pulled out a knife and demanded the cash register. This caused the clerk behind the desk to run into another room and lock the door.

No money or items were taken, and no one was injured.

The suspect is said to have been at the hotel previously, and is described as a black male around 6’1″ and 160 lbs. He was wearing a tan jacket, blue jeans, and a baseball cap. He also had a goatee beard and sideburns.

Anyone with any information concerning his incident is asked to call the MPD at 751-7500 or Crimestoppers at 1-877-68-CRIME. All tips are confidential, and Crimestoppers pays for information leading to an arrest.
