Man shot outside of convenience store on Rocky Creek Road

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – One person has been shot, and another man is wanted after an incident that occurred at a convenience store on Rocky Creek Road just before 6 p.m. Wednesday evening.

The victim, 45-year-old Richard Smith of Macon, was shot in the leg after an alleged altercation with another individual, according to Lt. Randy Gonzales of the Bibb County Sheriff’s Department.

Smith was transported to the Medical Center, Navicent Health where his condition remains unknown at this time.

Lt. Gonzalez said Smith was standing outside near a gas pump at Melody’s Magic Mart located at 2487 Rocky Creek Road when a dark colored Dodge Charger pulled up nearby.

Smith approached the vehicle and engaged in a verbal altercation with one of the occupants. The suspect then pulled out a gun and shot Smith in the right leg.

Investigators are searching for 23-year-old Zikiel Russ in connection with the shooting. He is listed as 6’2″ in height and weighs approximately 210 lbs. The Charger is described as not having tinted windows.
