Man shot, killed in Byron after argument turns violent

BYRON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) is investigating a shooting that happened Friday night just after 8:30 PM at a home in Byron.

Peach County Coroner, Kerry Rooks, says 35-year-old Lloyd Goldie was pronounced dead at a home at 136 Twin Lakes Ct. in Byron after being shot multiple times.

GBI Special Agent, J.T. Ricketson says Goldie was over at the home drinking with his friend and friend’s girlfriend. Goldie had too much to drink and was asked to leave, but wouldn’t leave. He tried to make his way back in the home. Ricketson says Goldie then got into an argument with his friend’s girlfriend, which turned physical. His friend then went inside the home, got a pistol and shot Goldie.

Ricketson says the Peach County Sheriff’s Office was the first to arrive, they called the GBI to help with the investigation. Based off the evidence found at the moment, the GBI decided not to make any arrests yet and there isn’t a time limit to when they will make one. Ricketson says once evidence is gathered, the District Attorney’s Office will make the final decision.

We will have more on this story as it continues to develop.
