14-year-old boy robs man during Facebook meetup

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A 14-year-old boy robbed a man during a Facebook meetup to buy a cell phone Tuesday.

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office says Roger Hill put his cell phone up for sale on Facebook.

The 14-year-old contacted Hill and they arranged to meet on Vineville Avenue.

When they got together, the boy grabbed the phone and ran away.

Hill gave investigators a photograph of the boy from Facebook, which allowed deputies to track him through an elementary school.

They found the boy’s address and went to his house, where they found the cell phone.

Deputies returned the phone to Hill, and the suspect was arrested and taken to the Macon Regional Youth Development Center.

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office wants to remind you if you’re buying or selling items from internet sites (like Facebook), meet the person in a well-populated area or at the sheriff’s office make the exchange.
