Man in Critical Condition After Hit and Run

A hit and run accident leaves a Roberta man in critical condition.

The incident took place on the 8700 block of Old Columbus Road in West Bibb County, around 12:30 Saturday morning. According to witnesses, 34-year-old Derrick Smith was in a blue Pontiac when a Chevrolet truck rear ended him and pushed him into a ditch. The driver of the truck fled the scene.

Bibb County Sheriff’s deputies arrested 69-year-old Bobby Lee Lewis of Lizella. Lewis was charged with Driving While Under the Influence and Serious Injury by Vehicle.
