Man found guilty in Houston County murder for hire trial
Lewis was convicted of killing Kerry Glenn in January 2014 in a murder-for-hire-scheme. Lewis was accused of hiring another man, Jamarcus Clark, to kill Corey Daniels.
According to the Houston County Sheriff’s Office, Clark killed the wrong person. The victim, Kerry Glynn, was Daniel’s nephew.
Glynn was shot in the head and found dead in his back yard.
Clark pleaded guilty to murder and testified in the Lewis’s murder trial Tuesday for the prosecution.
”We’re very pleased with the verdict and the justice that it brings to the Glynn family,” said Houston County Deputy Chief Assistant District Attorney Daniel Bibler. “I’m very impressed with the attention that the jury paid in this case.”
Bibler says it was the investigative work of the Perry Police Department and the Houston County Sheriff’s office that was essential to winning the murder trial.
“We’re certainly satisfied with the outcome of the trial,” said Houston County Sheriff’s Capt. Jon Holland. “I certainly give a lot of credit to our investigators and other agencies that worked tirelessly with us on this case.”
Houston County Superior Court Judge George Nunn told the court he plans to start sentencing next week.
Bibler says Lewis faces a maximium sentence of life without the possibility of parole.
