Man Enters Plea Agreement in Death of Macon Secretary

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – One of four people charged in the death of a Macon secretary last year pleaded guilty Monday afternoon to murder, sodomy and several other charges.

19-year-old Michael Brett Kelly entered a plea agreement to Judge Howard Simms.

As part of the agreement, Kelly will be sentenced to life in prison and won’t be eligible for parole.

He’ll also be expected to testify against the three other people charged in Gail Spencer’s death: his half-sister, 23-year-old Courtney Nicole Kelly, 23-year-old Keith Anthony Dozier and 38-year-old Tracy Michelle Jones.

Spencer was suffocated with a garbage bag in her home last October.

“As a part of this agreement, he (Kelly) will testify truthfully and cooperate in the investigation with regard to every other co-defendant,” says David Cooke, Bibb County District Attorney.  “Once their cases are disposed of, then he’ll be sentenced.”

Cooke says if Kelly doesn’t live up to the terms of his plea agreement, the state could seek the death penalty against him.
