Man dead, woman arrested for shooting alleged intruder in Fort Valley
The Fort Valley Police Department was dispatched in reference to a gunshot involving an intruder into a home. The shooting happened on October 26 at 2:20 a.m. to the 400 Block of Pecan Avenue in Fort Valley.

FORT VALLEY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A man is dead after a shooting in Fort Valley on Saturday morning, according to a press release from the Fort Valley Chief of Police DJ Flores.
Officers were dispatched in reference to a gunshot involving an intruder into a home. The shooting happened on October 26 at 2:20 a.m. to the 400 Block of Pecan Avenue in Fort Valley.
Upon arrival, officers found a woman crying and laying on the front lawn of her residence by a firearm.
Officers discovered the woman shot a man who was allegedly intruding inside of the residence.
Officers found the man with a gunshot wound to the torso area. The man was transported to Atrium Health Navicent in Macon and died from his injuries.
The Fort Valley Criminal Investigation Division and Crime Scene Unit responded to the scene to further investigate.
55-year-old Shawn Evans, was arrested and charged with murder and discharging firearms while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Evans was transported to the Peach County Detention Center without further incident.
The shooting is still under investigation.
