Man dead after Wednesday morning shooting in Macon

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A man is dead after being shot Wednesday in Macon, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.
According to the sheriff’s office, the shooting happened at a residence in the 100 block of Canary Lane at 8:24 a.m.
Deputies responded to the scene in reference to a person being shot and found a 41-year-old man with a gunshot wound.
Deputies performed lifesaving measures before paramedics arrived, and the victim was then transported to a local medical facility for further treatment. The victim died from his injuries, and his identity has not yet been released.
According to the news release, deputies located a person of interest at the scene. The person of interest was transported to the Criminal Investigation Division for further investigation.
