UPDATE: Arrest made in stabbing that left man hospitalized

Bibb County deputies are investigating a stabbing that left a man critically injured late Monday night.

UPDATE (8/12/2025 – 9:20 a.m.) – The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office has made an arrest in connection with an aggravated assault that happened late Monday night in Macon.

Deputies responded to a home in the 3800 block of Tela Place at 10:44 p.m. on August 11 after receiving a report of a person cut. When they arrived, they found a 33-year-old man suffering from a stab wound. Paramedics treated the victim at the scene before taking him to a local hospital, where he is now in stable condition, according to medical staff.

Investigators determined the victim and a man nearby had been involved in a physical altercation before the stabbing. Deputies identified the suspect as 61-year-old Dennis Coney, who was taken into custody at the scene. A weapon linked to the incident was also recovered.

Coney has been charged with aggravated assault and is being held at the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center without bond.

When deputies arrived, they found a 33-year-old man suffering from a stab wound. Paramedics treated him at the scene before taking him to a local hospital, where he is listed in critical but stable condition, according to medical staff.

Investigators are still working to determine what led to the stabbing.
