Man Convicted of Choking His Girlfriend to Death

 A Forsyth man is convicted for voluntary manslaughter in a Bibb County Courtroom Thursday.

After more than three and half hours of deliberating, jurors found Alphonzo McNear guilty for choking his girlfriend Saundra Joann Stell to death.

Back in October 2009, police responded to a call at 896 Newberg Avenue just before 4pm that morning. 

An autopsy determined she was strangled.

McNear is sentence to serve 15 years in prison for her death.

According to the district attorney’s office, McNear confessed to the killing.
