Man charged with kidnapping a woman in Macon

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A man was arrested for allegedly kidnapping a woman, and trying to rape her.

Jesse Edward Ramsey III was arrested, Saturday and charged with kidnapping with bodily injury, aggravated assault and attempted rape.

Ramsey’s arrest stems from an incident that happened Friday around 11:15 p.m. The victim told Bibb County deputies, she was walking on Toombs Street when she was attacked from behind.

“She stated she fought the suspect for several minutes,” according to a Bibb County Sheriff news release. ” She was able to get away from the suspect and run for help. The victim was transported to a local hospital and treated for her injuries. She gave investigators a description of the suspect.”

Bibb County Sheriff’s Patrol Deputies went to the 1000 block of Toombs Street Friday night in reference to a female that had been assaulted.

She told investigators she was walking from a store in the 4000 block of Houston Avenue.

“She was taken to an abandoned house on Toombs Street where she was assaulted by the suspect,” continued the news release. “She stated she fought the suspect for several minutes. She was able to get away from the suspect and run for help.”

The unidentified victim was transported to a local hospital and treated for her injuries. She gave investigators a description of the suspect.

Bibb Sheriff’s Patrol Deputies received information of a person fitting the description of the suspect in the 800 block of Chatham Street.

“Deputies went to the location and made contact with the suspect,” added the news release. ” He was detained and transported to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Criminal Investigative Division for questioning.”

Ramsey was transported to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Complex.
