Man charged with aggravated assault after hitting sleeping woman with brick outside Douglas Theater

Investigators say there were surveillance cameras that confirmed the assault and identified a suspect.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A man was arrested in Macon on Tuesday for hitting a sleeping woman in the head with a brick in June, according to a press release from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

Atrium Health Navicent contacted the Macon Bibb E-911 Center on June 12 and reported that a female had been assaulted. The victim has been identified as 45-year-old Te’arie Register.

Register was sleeping outside of the Douglas Theater and was struck in the head with a brick. Investigators say there were surveillance cameras that confirmed the assault and identified a suspect.

The suspect was identified as 49-year-old Maurice Monterial Williams. Williams was arrested on July 9 while walking on Gray Highway.

Williams was charged with aggravated assault and is being held without bond.
