Man caught stealing from abandon Macon gas station

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A Macon man was arrested within minutes, after burglarizing a abandon convenience store.

According to a Bibb County Sheriff’s Office news release, the burglary in progress call came in around 12:00 noon, Wednesday.

Authorities say when they arrived to the Marathon Convenience Store on Houston Avenue they saw a man walking from the car wash area towards a black SUV with an object in his hand.

When the suspect, 30-year-old Jarvis Dewitt Bass saw the deputies he ran. He was caught and arrested near the 4700 block of Pio Nono Avenue. The driver of the SUV left the scene.

Bass was taken into custody and charged with burglary, willful obstruction of a law enforcement officer and probation violation.

The SUV at the scene is described as a 2006 to 2008 Chevrolet Suburban.
