Man arrested for trying to steal motorcycle in Macon
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A man from Florida is in the Bibb County jail after trying to steal a motorcycle Thursday mornning.
The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office says Cpl. Inzar responded to the Advanced Auto Parts on Zebulon Rd. around 10 a.m. after witnesses said a man was trying to steal a 2014 Yamaha motorcycle. The man was identified as 50-year-old Robert Eugene Epps. Epps allegedly put on the motorcycle’s helmet but was unable to start the motorcycle because it had an anti-theft device.
As Inzar tried to arrest him, Epps, who had a knife in his front pocket, pulled away and tried to escape. Inzar arrested Epps after tazing him and with help from a victim and the motorcycle’s owner.
Epps is in jail charged with charged with Criminal Attempt to Commit a Felony, Willful Obstruction of a Law Enforcement Officer, Traffic Motor Vehicle Offense, Aggravated Battery and Possession of a Weapon During the Commission of a Crime. Epps also had an active warrant for an unrelated charge out of Barrow County, Georgia.
