Man arrested after shooting on Riverside Drive

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A man has been arrested in connection with a shooting that happened in the 1000 block of Riverside Drive on Thursday, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies say the incident was  called into the Macon-Bibb Emergency 911 Center at 12:02 p.m.

Witnesses say there was a verbal altercation that escalated between two males in the area. One of the men began firing shots towards the other male, but the intended target was not injured.

The suspect fled the scene, and no one in the area was harmed.

Deputies searched the area and located the suspect at a home in the 100 block of Hill Street. The suspect attempted to flee but was apprehended quickly.

The suspect was identified as 42-year-old Zavier Markieth Ottman.

Ottman was taken to a medical facility and attempted to flee again. He was eventually taken into custody and taken to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center.

Deputies say Ottman was wanted in Bibb County for four counts of aggravated assault and felony theft by taking auto. He is now charged with aggravated assault and felony escape and is being held without bond.
