Man arrested on trafficking, family violence charges in Macon

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — A man faces more than a dozen charges after deputies say he fled from authorities and was captured following a brief struggle, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies with the patrol division located Tyrin Devon Terrell Riggins, who was wanted on multiple violent warrants and was believed to be armed, at the OYO Hotel on Jeffersonville Road, according to a news release.
Authorities say Riggins attempted to flee on foot upon arrival but was pursued into a wooded area, where deputies apprehended him after a brief struggle.
Riggins was arrested March 22 and is facing numerous charges, including three counts of battery-family violence, assault on an unborn child, criminal damage to property in the first degree, two counts of cruelty to children in the third degree, simple battery, criminal trespass and multiple counts of willful obstruction of law enforcement officers. He is also charged with trafficking in cocaine, illegal drugs, marijuana or methamphetamine; possession of a firearm during the commission of certain felonies; and possession of substances with intent to manufacture Schedule I or II controlled substances.
A second individual at the scene was also taken into custody and charged with hindering and harboring a wanted person, as well as obstruction.
During the arrest and investigation, deputies recovered marijuana, methamphetamine, an AR-15 rifle loaded with 30 rounds, a drum magazine containing about 50 rounds, additional magazines, scales, needles and packaging materials consistent with drug distribution, according to the report.
