Man arrested for stealing gasoline in Monroe County
The store owner reported that a total of 2,446 gallons of gas was stolen between January 19-20.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A man was arrested for theft by taking on Rumble Road on Monday, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
According to a news release, officers were dispatched to a gas station on January 20 about stolen gasoline. The store owner reported that a total of 2,446 gallons of gas was stolen between January 19-20.
During the investigation, the truck and car were found through the FLOCK camera system. A BOLO was issued for the car, which was a Grey SUV and a U-Haul truck that was seen on both days when the station was closed.
Around midnight on January 23, a deputy saw the U-Haul that matched the description of the one in the BOLO and issued a traffic stop.
During the traffic stop, there was a distinct smell of gasoline coming from the truck. Two 250 gallon plastic tanks for gasoline that were nearly empty were found.
27-year-old Lionel Jones was arrested and charged with theft by taking, possession of marijuana less than an ounce, and criminal attempt to commit a felony.
