Man arrested for driving under the influence, attempting to flee from deputies in Macon

Myrick was arrested on charges of driving under the influence, fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer for a felony offense, obstruction of a law enforcement officer, and numerous additional charges.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A man was arrested for driving under the influence and attempting to flee from law enforcement, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident happened on December 5.

Deputies saw a driver of a silver SUV ignore a stoplight in the downtown area and initiated a traffic stop. The driver accelerated away and was forcefully stopped when he attempted to turn onto an interstate onramp. The chase ended with a PIT maneuver.

The driver was identified as Carlos Orlando Myrick.

Myrick was arrested on charges of driving under the influence, fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer for a felony offense, obstruction of a law enforcement officer, and numerous additional charges.

A female passenger was transported to a local hospital for observation. Myrick was transported to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Law Enforcement Center.
