Man arrested for attempted burglary with axe at Family Dollar in Macon

The suspect is identified as 57-year-old Elvis Lester Hill.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A man was arrested in connection with an attempted burglary of a commercial business on Tuesday, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident happened at 12:21 a.m. on December 3. Investigators were on patrol within the 2500 block of Houston Avenue and overheard suspicious noises coming from the back of Family Dollar, located at 2529 Houston Avenue.

Investigators responded to the noises, and found a man behind the business with an axe.

The suspect was attempting to enter the business through the back doors. When investigators attempted to make contact with the suspect, he fled on foot towards a nearby wooded area. The suspect was apprehended without incident after a brief foot chase.

The suspect is identified as 57-year-old Elvis Lester Hill.

Hill was transported to Investigation Headquarters, before being transported to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center.

Hill faces charges of second-degree criminal attempt to commit burglary, second-degree criminal damage to property, and obstruction of law enforcement officers. Hill is currently being held without bond.
