Man arrested after high-speed chase on Gray Highway

According to the news release, the chase began when Walter Joe Daniels first encountered Investigator Hall on Joycliff Road, nearly hitting him head-on.

GRAY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A man was arrested Wednesday after a high-speed chase on Gray Highway, according to the Jones County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the news release, the chase began when Walter Joe Daniels first encountered Investigator Hall on Joycliff Road, nearly hitting him head-on. Investigator Hall attempted to stop Daniels, but Daniels fled down Gray Highway at a high rate of speed.

Sergeant Walker joined the pursuit near the city limits and attempted a PIT maneuver to stop Daniels, but Daniels regained control of his vehicle, striking Investigator Hall’s car in the process. The chase continued into the city, where Sergeant Walker executed another PIT maneuver near the Circle K, ending the chase.

Daniels was taken into custody without further incident and charged with fleeing or attempting to elude, reckless driving, DUI less safe, failure to maintain lane, possession of cocaine, and aggravated assault on a peace officer. Daniels is currently in custody.
