Man accused of holding girlfriend’s children hostage in Macon

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A man is accused of assaulting his girlfriend and taking her two children hostage in Macon Saturday.

26-year-old Caleb Eubanks is charged with aggravated assault family violence, kidnapping family violence, rape and child cruelty.

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office responded to a domestic call at a home on West Ridge Circle around 1:30 a.m. Deputies said Eubanks and his girlfriend got into a fight earlier and Eubanks assaulted her before leaving the home. When he came back to the house, the girlfriend left the house, but Eubanks wouldn’t let her two children go with her, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office. The girl is six years old and the boy is two years old. Deputies said the 6-year-old is Eubanks’ child.

Deputies said Eubanks had a shotgun and refused to let the children leave the home. Hostage negotiators from the sheriff’s office were able to get Eubanks to let both children leave the house safely. Eubanks refused to come out. The Bibb County Sheriff’s S.W.A.T. Team went into the house and arrested Eubanks. He was taken to the hospital after taking medication to try and hurt himself, according to deputies.
