Mahan Leads Cadillac Championship, Tiger Is 1 Under Par
DORAL, FL – Hunter Mahan had seven birdies in 11 holes in the Cadillac Championship before the storm-delayed opening round was suspended by darkness.
Mahan opened with four straight birdies at Doral and was 7 under after a rare par on the second hole. He was two shots clear of Charley Hoffman, who shot a 5-under 67 on Thursday. Hoffman was one of the few players to finish his round.
One feature group – the top three players in the world – lived up to its billing. Martin Kaymer and Luke Donald were 5 under through 10 holes, with Lee Westwood another shot back.
Another big group, which featured Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson, were in the middle of the back. Woods didn’t make birdie until the 10th hole and was 1 under with three to play. Mickelson was 2 under.
Woods is playing only his fourth tournament of the year this weekend and is coming up on 16 months without winning, the longest drought of his career. He is a three-time winner at Doral.
You can watch play from the Cadillac Championship in Doral, FL on 41 NBC this weekend 2-6 PM on Saturday and Sunday from 3-7 PM.
