Maconites Team Up to Giveaway 100 Bikes to Underprivileged Kids

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Nearly 100 kids in Macon got the chance to ride away on a new set of wheels today, thanks to some very generous community members.

Macon natives Danny Glover, and Larry Guyton teamed up, to round up 100 bikes to give to kids this Christmas.

This initiative was supported by local organizations including Habersham Music, Macon Black Pages,
and newly elected officials, Solicitor Rebecca Grist, and Superior Court Clerk Erica Woodford.

The Olympia Family Fun center opened their doors for the cause this afternoon, and families waited in line to score a new ride! Glover and Guyton say making the kids smile was worth the work.

“Makes me happy it’s the only gift I’m going to get for Christmas, so it’s good enough,” says Guyton.

Both say they teamed up to give back to Macon, because this community has invested so much in them.

“There are so many people in our community that have been affected by recession and who can’t afford to give their child a Christmas, so as a community of one, it’s time for us to come together, and do what’s right for our community and just pay it forward a little bit,” says Glover.

They were able to round up 97 brand new bikes for underprivileged kids in Macon.
