Macon Water Authority announces planned water outage for Bass Road

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Macon Water Authority (MWA) has announced a planned water outage for Bass Road on January 15.

The Macon Water Authority (MWA) will perform a tie-in of a 30-inch water main along Bass Road as part of the Georgia Department of Transportation’s (GDOT) ongoing infrastructure improvement project.

The operation is scheduled for the night of January 15, with an estimated completion time of 8-10 hours.

According to the press release, the planned tie-in is necessary to successfully integrate new infrastructure into the existing water distribution system.

MWA wants residents to know the following:

  • Scheduled Outage Time: 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM (January 15th).
  • Impacted Area: Approximately 15-meter services along Bass Road and nearby areas.
  • Customer Notifications: MWA personnel will provide door-to-door notifications, and updates will be posted on social media and the MWA website.

MWA says the following preparations are in place:

  • Pre-dug pits for access points at key locations, including Amerson property and south of St. Croix Drive.
  • Water distribution personnel will deliver cases of water to affected homes (5 cases per home, plus additional reserves).
  • Maintenance teams have verified the positioning of critical valves to ensure seamless operations.

MWA says the following about areas impacted by traffic:

  • Temporary traffic control measures will be in place near excavation points, particularly at St. Croix Drive.
  • Motorists are advised to plan alternate routes during the tie-in period.
