MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Many Macon residents struggle to resolve minor legal issues that can have lasting consequences on their lives.

On Saturday, November 8, the Warrant and Record Restriction Clinic in Macon is offering free assistance to those in need, helping people address outstanding legal matters.

“It’s a life-changing event,” organizer Eddie White said. “There are people riding around with no license. People that got records, you know, got criminal records, they can get it expunged.”

If you have unpaid traffic tickets, fines, misdemeanor warrants or DUI’s, the warrant and record restriction clinic can help.  Jerry Wright, who used the clinic in the past says he had most of these issues on his record, but after visiting the clinic in 2023, he was able to turn things around quickly.

“They put me on the right track,” he said. “They told me to set up my own court dates and all of that. And in one court appearance I got my license back straightened out and everything.”

Now, Wright no longer has those worries.

“Now when I see the police I can drive past them with a smile on my face,” he said. “I ain’t going to be running from people no more.”

Event organizers Kim and Eddie White say they expect more than 150 people to attend Saturday’s clinic. White says no one will be arrested at the event.

“Tomorrow is free,” Kim White said. “We ask that everyone come out and enjoy the services that are going to be provided.”

The fifth annual clinic will happen in the back parking lot of L.H. Williams Elementary School from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be free food and entertainment for everyone. For more information, call (478) 405-0281.
