Sardis-Heard hosts Veterans Day event honoring local heroes
The event included performances, an Honor Guard presentation, and remarks from retired Air Force General Jim Sehorn, a former Vietnam War POW.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Sardis-Heard Funerals & Cremation Center honored local veterans Tuesday morning with a special ceremony recognizing their courage, service, and sacrifice.
The ceremony included musical performances, a presentation from the Honor Guard and a special guest: Retired Air Force General Jim Sehorn.
Sehorn shared his experiences flying combat missions during the Vietnam War and his time as a prisoner of war, where he was held for more than five years.
“We love our veterans and our community. We love to be able to celebrate what the veterans have done for our country, past and present, and their families as well,” said Becky Hathaway, administrator at Sardis-Heard Funerals & Cremation Center.
General Sehorn shared his experiences and a message of perseverance with those in attendance.
