The night’s guest speaker was Georgia Tech Offensive Line Coach Jess Simpson. He spoke about what the Macon Touchdown Club means to him and the Yellow Jackets.
“Well, obviously I’m from Georgia and extremely aware of the tradition” said Coach Simpson. “[It’s the] oldest touchdown club in the country, maybe in the state. But, football is important down here and we’ve seen a lot of familiar faces, and its been a lot of fun coming down here sharing some old football stories, and talking about Georgia Tech, and the vision and direction we are heading.”
As a former high school football coach at Buford High School, Coach Simpson went on to talk about his recruiting as a former high school coach and now NCAA Division One coach. “Being in Atlanta, knowing the state, knowing how many great players are in the state, how many coaches and programs are in this state, its going to be hard not to be successful in recruiting.”
