MACON, Georgia – (41NBC/WMGT) – Another exciting week of football led to the first Macon Touchdown Club ceremony of the season.

At the Macon Methodist Home for Children and Youth, club members gathered to honor three of the best players in the area for standout performances from Weeks 1 through 4. While the Week 1 through 3 honorees have already been highlighted on 41NBC Sports, this was the first time the student-athletes received their trophies in person.

Week 4 honorees included two Backs of the Week, one of them, a freshman quarterback making the list for the second time, and in back to back weeks, is Northeast’s Jordan Wiggins went 18 of 24 passing for 266 yards and six touchdowns, setting a Bibb County scoring record. He also added four carries for 48 yards in the Raiders’ 38-0 shutout win over Jefferson County.

The other Back of the Week went to Stratford senior running back Tyler Stephens, who rushed for 170 yards on 22 carries and two touchdowns in the Eagles’ 40-34 win over Wilkinson County.

The Lineman of the Week award also went to a Northeast player. Senior defensive end Amari White recorded 10 tackles, including six for a loss and three sacks, in the Raiders’ victory.

Following the awards, author and longtime ESPN writer Mark Schlabach spoke to the Touchdown Club as the week’s special guest. A Norcross and Georgia graduate, Schlabach began his journalism career at the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. He joined ESPN in 2006, where he is one of the network’s primary golf writers and investigative reporters.
